What's the best way to get people to donate to my fundraiser?
Fundraising can feel daunting, but it's quite easy when you follow this simple formula. Just remember TART (no, not the pastry - just an acronym we made up)
T - Tell everyone that you’re fundraising for Clown Doctors Australia and why this cause is so important to you. This means sharing your fundraising page link via email, social media, put up posters and have those 1:1 conversations!
A - Ask your family, friends and colleagues to donate and support you by sharing your fundraiser with others.
R - Remind them. We all get busy with work, family and friends, so a friendly reminder is always helpful.
T - Thank your donors for supporting your fundraiser.
You can find some social images, posters and templates here.
Can I ask my employer or other businesses to sponsor my fundraiser?
Absolutely! Many companies across Australia proudly offer ‘match funding’ as part of their employee benefits. Speak to your manager and HR and ask them to support. Your supporters can do the same with their employer when they donate to your fundraiser!
Are donations to my fundraiser tax deductible?
If you’re hosting an offline fundraiser and a supporter would like a receipt, please let us know.
Donations are not tax deductible if the supporter receives goods or services in return.
For example: Your friend, Sally gives you $50 to attend your fundraising event, purchases 10 raffle tickets for $20 dollars and then gives you $30 to contribute to your fundraiser.
Sally has given you $100 overall, but only $30 is tax-deductible.
We're getting married and would like to celebrate with Clown Doctors Australia!
2 Options:
- Create a celebration page and ask guests to donate in lieu of wedding gifts
- Donate to Clown Doctors Australia on behalf of your guests in lieu of bonbonnieres.

What do I do with cash donations?
If you're fundraising online and someone gives you cash, you can keep the cash and use your credit / debit card to make the donation to your fundraising page. Remember to use the donor's name and details so they receive the tax receipt for their gift.
If you're fundraising offline, you can deposit cash directly or by EFT transfer to the Clown Doctors Australia bank account. Remember to reference your Fundraising Authorisation Number.
Does Clown Doctors Australia have fundraising merchandise available?
Yes, we do have a limited number of noses, stickers and socks - please contact us if you’d like to sell these at your next event.
